Well, this is a big day for Mia’s Children! Our blog is up and running! This means timely updates from Mia and the children as well as up-to-date information on what we are doing on the home-front.
It seems appropriate that we start with a big THANK YOU to those of you who were part of the Art Show we had in Memphis June 15th. Many people gave selflessly for the success we had and it is so appreciated. Next, we want to thank Catherine amd Earl Casscaden and all the folks in the Cambria, CA area for all they have done for Mia, Costel and Mia’s Children. Without them, this recent trip would not have been possible.
To all of you who have made donations, given gifts, entertained and encouraged Mia and Costel, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
On to exciting news!
Congratulations to Marian {20}, Mihaela {18}, Bigo {17}, and Gigi {18} who were selected (on a merit basis) to participate in an internship in Cyprus. They will spend several months working in resorts and gaining valuable experience not only in their field of expertise (cooking or cosmetology), but in general as they travel and live in a new place and meet new people. This is a tremendous opportunity for them and we trust this will give them a great reference to list on their future resumes.
Congratulations to Ana Marie and Estera who are traveling with the Romanian Children’s Choir. The children were selected through auditions and only a few are chosen.
Congratulations to Nicoleta {15} and Victor {15} who took the national tests to enter high school and passed with flying colors. Nicoleta and Victor plan to enter high school and emphasize the liberal arts in hopes of preparing for college.
Congratulations to Claudia (18) who has passed her 12th grade national exams which makes her eligible to attend college.
