Mia

Painting and Prayer

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

God we pray today for the many people involved in planning Mia’s visit while here in the States. We pray that you will open all of the right doors to make her speaking engagements and fundraising work go smoothly and be a blessing.

In particular, we ask that you give Joan Castle, the US head of Mia’s Children, encouragement as she hosts Mia and oversees the month-long trip.

Amen.

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
Proverbs 17:17

Mia painting in Memphis

Lord, we thank you for bringing Mia safely to the United States and for the gift of friendship and community that we share with her and with our Romanian brothers and sisters. Teach us how to love and welcome visitors. May her trip be restful and inspire her work and ours. Amen.

Painting and Prayer

Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

1 Thessalonians 2:8

This week we lift up to you Mia as she prepares for a much-awaited trip to the US. Please give her and Mia’s Children in Romania peace as they set up arrangements for her absence. Protect her health, and make those of us in America welcoming to her in whatever way you have for us. Amen

Update on Mia’s Visa Application

Mia is expecting her visa for the US in the next couple of days! She plans to travel as soon as possible, so she’ll be able to return in time for the beginning of the school year.

Please pray for travel arrangements to go smoothly and for Mia’s time here to be productive. Also, please pray for the staff at Mia’s Children as they prepare for her departure.

If you would like to see Mia while she’s here, please let us know so that we can be in contact with you!

Painting and Prayer

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
3 John 1:2

Lord we ask for mercy on Mia’s health as she struggles with the fracture in her inner ear. Give her the capacity to hear well and to continue serving you with her body. Give any doctors who examine her wisdom in how or if to proceed with any treatment. And if at all possible, we ask for you to heal her completely. Amen.

Mia’s Words for Patsy

As many of you may already know, last week Patsy Vick, one of our board members, lost her husband.

Ray Vick was an active part of Mia’s Children, supporting Patsy’s regular visits to Romania and traveling there with her as well. A devoted father here in the United States, he was also beloved by the many children he met in Bucharest.

After losing her own husband this year, Mia had many kind thoughts for Patsy. We wanted to share some of what she said with all of you.

We love you, Patsy, and we miss you, Ray.

From Mia:

Beloved Patsy and Family,

The words are too poor to can say how much I’m sorry to lose such a wonderful man as Ray was and will be forever!

Lord knows him so well and I’m sure that he’ll stay with Lord in Heaven, watching over all his dear Family and Friends, as well as his beloved grandchildren.

Costel is with him and I can see their hugs and special smiles. Two brave men who dedicated their life for others, serving the Lord whom they loved so much…

They’ll stay with us forever, dear Patsy. We were so blessed to have them. Ray was a special Husband, Grandfather, a Man of God, a Friend for so many. What a blessing and great honor to meet him, to know him, to work with him, we all in a great and blessed team of Lord!

The kids are so sad to lose their Grandfather Their tears are signs of how much they were blessed through Ray and you!!! Many memories will stay with them forever, because ray was the great man with white hair, with soft heart, with tears in his eyes speaking to them about Lord and sharing a special love!

Thank you, Ray, thank you, Patsy, thank you Lord! He is with us forever!

Patsy, I don’t know how to comfort you…but Ray is with Lord and with other Man of God, with Costel. You’ll suffer a lot after him because you’ll miss him so, so much. Nothing will can fill your heart, but be strong in Spirit as he’s not suffering anymore and you’ll meet him one day.

You have so many to love you around you and you’ll have to give them Ray’s love, to continue to be for them what Ray was. Take care of your beloved Granddaughters, rejoice into Lord. I’m with you – take my hugs right now and say a great thank you to Ray from me, from us, please!

Update on Mia

Please continue to pray for Mia. She has returned from Italy and is doing fine. The trip went safely and was informative, but now she will need further testing and possibly more medical attention later.

We’re sorry we can’t give more details but we want to wait until we know with more certainty what is afflicting her and what will need to be done.

In the meantime, we ask for your prayers in three ways:

  • For Mia to be encouraged and sustained through this process.
  • For Mia’s health to be restored in the coming days.
  • That God would grant strength and wisdom to Costi, Oana, and the rest of the staff and volunteers at Mia’s Children who have been helping Mia shoulder the burden in the past few weeks.

Thank you for your support! If you would like to send a message to Mia or to Mia’s Children and want to make sure it gets to them, just leave a message in the comments and we’ll pass it along.
